Chamber Music Intensive
June 18–July 15, 2018
The program is open to nine music majors ages 20–26. We will accept four violinists, two violists, two cellists and one pianist, forming three string quartets and one piano quintet.
The 4-week intensive will be divided into two 2-week-long sessions, each ending with a concert. Violinists, violists and cellists will be in two different groups, learning and performing a total of four works, two per session. The pianist will be in one group per session, learning and performing two standard piano quintets during the course of the program.
Each group will have daily hour-and-a-half coaching with a faculty member Monday through Friday. Groups are also required to rehearse on their own. Private lessons are available at the discretion of the faculty at no additional cost.
In addition to their concerts, students will participate in masterclasses and perform at Manchester Community Library, Zion Episcopal Church, Israel Congregation and other venues.
